Search for dot files of CDE

Hi Windy Cleaners,

as up until now I have done all my HP-UX administration from the console or an xterm (there was no need for fancy graphics) I have never made contact with CDE. :-/

From my linux box at home I know which dot files to tamper with for window managers such as FVWM.

Now my boss, who occasionally runs PerfView from a HP-UX box under the CDE, was complainig why there didn't pop up the newly deployed HP-UX boxes in the menu.

So I looked for the dot files in his account's home that could be responsible for the menus' appearance (i.e. grepping for menu entries I saw on his screen), but only found a .dt subdir of whose files no one matched a case insensitive search. :-(

I then searched for a man page but found none.

Could anyone into CDE tell me which are the config files for CDE (globally and per user), and where to find them?

Regards
Ralph

Re: Search for dot files of CDE

Sorry I found some reference:

# swlist -l file CDE.CDE-ENG-A-MAN|grep -i conf
/usr/dt/share/man/man1/dtconfig.1
/usr/dt/share/man/man4/dtfile_config.4
/usr/dt/share/man/man4/dticonfile.4

But help with regard to menu entries is still appreceated.

Re: Search for dot files of CDE

Hi Alex,

many, many thanks for the abundance of information (unlike me you must be a quick typer ;-)

I will sift through the files in the mentioned places and compare it to what is already configured.
(for now it has to be a quick fix, so I leave the hacking for a more convenient period of time)

I will come back later to assign points,
I don't want the rabbit to pop up too soon, not to scare off other potential contenders ;-)
