spooler not working in HP UX 11i

Dear Team,

I am using rp34440-4 server with HP UX 11i OS.
Print spooler is not working. I have tried with lpshut and lpsched command. after running lpsched it is showing that lp scheduler is running. but lpstat -t command displays scheduler is not running . Also tried to start lp spooler from sam - print spooler scheduler is unable tostart.
No errors are in /var/spool/lp/log file

regrds,

wish

Re: spooler not working in HP UX 11i

Hi Wish,
Do the following
1. lpshut
2. Remove /var/spool/lp/SCHEDLOCK file
3. lpsched

Hope this will do

Re: spooler not working in HP UX 11i

dear wish,

please check the presence of schedlock file which is mentioned in earlier replies.if it is not the problem check for any badblock in the /var filesystem (by dd command)

Re: spooler not working in HP UX 11i

Hi Wish ,

If the file /var/spool/lp/SCHEDLOCK presens , Lp subsystem assumes that scheduler is already running and will not allow you to start again , with lpsched.

You can remove the file and run lpsched.

check what happens.,
