Subnet mask change in cluster environment
Hi,
We need to change the netmask and broadcast IP of lan0 of our two node cluster servers. The steps we followed:
1. Modify /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file.
2. Halt the packages
3. Stop and start net service from MP console.
4. Start the packages.
After starting the packges, we found lan0:1 having the old subnet mask even though lan0 was having the changed one.
What should we need to do to reflect the changed subnet mask address on both lan0 and lan0:1? (lan0:1 is the virtual/package IP address)
We also tried with halting the cluster, but the problem remains.
Thanks,
-- Faisal.

Re: Subnet mask change in cluster environment
There are also network addresses stored in the cluster configuration files. You need to edit the the cluster ascii file and change the IP addresses there and then run cmapplyconf.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Subnet mask change in cluster environment
ANY networking changes like this need to be re-applied to the cluster using cmapplyconf.
To verify this, use cmviewconf to see what is stored in the binary.
Note this type of parameter change cannot be done on-line.
