"The console firmware terminal type is currently set to "vt100". If you are using any other type of terminal you will see "garbage" on the screen following this message.
If this is the case, you will need to either change the terminal type set in the firmware via GSP (if your GSP firmware version supports this feature), or change your terminal emulation to match the firmware. In either case you will need to restert if your terminal and the firmware type do not match."
Any ideas on how to change the setting? When logged in to the host(currently running 11.11) through the console, highlighted text shows up with garbage characters before and after it. I can change the terminal type to "hp" by setting the TERM variable in the shell and the man pages look normal.
How do I do this in the firmware so that the install menus look normal?
Thanks,
Andy

SolutionYou need to change it on your emulation software!
"change your terminal emulation to match the firmware"
example:
If you are using hyperterminal, you need to go to
File->Properties->setting
and change the emulation to vt100.
In case of the old HP terminal, emulation type EM100 should be fine.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Terminal Type and garbage printer to the screen during install
Do a "control-b", "he", then look for the terminal/modem setup.

Re: Terminal Type and garbage printer to the screen during install
It looks like this after you switch to the console:
Entering Virtual Front Panel
Select terminal type:
[1] hpterm, 70092, 70094, 2392
2 vt100, vt220, ansii, xterm
You still have to set the apropriate setting in your terminal emulation on the client.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
