I have to install the bundle QPK1123(B.11.23.0706.064) with included bundle QPKAPPS and QPKBASE on a rp4440 (4 processeurs,20GB of RAM).
I have to prevent the users to stop the machine but I have to estimate the time to install the bundle.
Please can you help me.

Re: time to install a QK1123 bundle
Hi,
Total time to install a patch bundle is depends on how long your system take to boot up. With 20 GB of RAM, I guess it will take about 20 minutes each reboot. If you request 1 hour of downtime, it should be enough for a spare time.
Regards,
Sandy

Re: time to install a QK1123 bundle
Hello Fred,
Firstly - make_tape_recovery & full system backup :)
>> I have to estimate the time to install the bundle
It depends, worst scenario, unable to regen kernel, unable to boot to previous kernel & need to recover from backup tape.
Please estimate more server downtime hours if necessary.
Thanks

Re: time to install a QK1123 bundle
If everything goes OK, then an hour might just make it. NEVER, EVER give an estimate without adding 2-3 hours for problem resolution. You tell everyone it will be a 4 hour outage and when you are back up and running after 2 hours, everyone is happy. But if you estimate an hour and need to reboot a couple of more times to solve a local configuration issue, everyone will be mad at you when it takes another hour.
