Re: Veritas Gui - vea will not connect to server
check if the vxsvc daemon is running.
# ps -ef | grep vxsvc
if not
# /sbin/init.d/isisd restart

Re: Veritas Gui - vea will not connect to server
SERVER = hostname
Believe it or not, this includes client PCs.
If you are sure the server daemons are running:
bprd, bpdbm, bpjobd
check netstat -a for LISTEN on tcp ports 13720, 13721, 13722, 13723
I think 13722 is the java server listener port.
Finally check for any firewall blockage.

Re: Veritas Gui - vea will not connect to server
Could this be some kind of networking problem (ipaddress/routing/hostname etc)?
files to check:
/etc/hosts
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf
/etc/nsswitch.conf
/etc/resolv.conf
Could you check the state of your installed software patches?
# swlist -l fileset -a state
Any other tools giving you errors (sam, sw commands)?
try using sam and fire up an swinstall window.
Are there any errors in the syslog.log file?
How about your veritas patches (are you uptodate)?
Post your HPUX version and your Veritas Volume Manager version.
What has been changed?

Re: Veritas Gui - vea will not connect to server
Are you able to telnet or ping to the host where Veritas server is installed ?
Also, make sure you supply correct authentication credentials.
