I have to install VM in all of the 7 servers and then create guests..

Re: Virtual machine

You can install them the same way via ignite-ux like you did with the physical servers.

Go to the vMP (!) and proceed ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Virtual machine

wow... so it's like...

The first server should have VMware installed on it and then I have to create a depot of the DVD.

and then on all the other servers from the Shell>dbprofile -dn igniteprof -sip 10.4.93.18 -cip 10.3.93.10 -gip 10.3.93.1 -m 255.255.255.0 -b "/opt/ignite/boot/nbp.efi"

Am I correct

Re: Virtual machine

I have one more doubt...

While creating the depot for 11.23...

Should I need to create for both the cd's 1 & 2 ... or is it just the 1st cd

Re: Virtual machine

You can use your already existing ignite server, if the HPVMs have a virtual switch assigned and are able to contact this server.

Just go to the vMP:

# hpvmconsole -p

and install.

Note: this is NOT vmware ... but HP Integrity Virtual Machines (HPVM).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

This time you really **MUST READ** the manual in order to understand how things work and how to do ...

Hope this helps!

Re: Virtual machine

Also How many guests can i create on a bl860c

This depends on the available amount of memory.

Use

# hpvmstatus -s

to find out.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Virtual machine

Is it neccessary to create the ones below as well

As I am doing this for the first time.. I am not really sure which all to include in a normal operating Environment

Virtual network interface cards (vNICs)
├в ┬в Virtual switches (vswitches)

RTFM means... I do not have an idea

Re: Virtual machine

Looking at most of your threads, it is apparent you do not seem willing, or able, to actually go and read any manuals or man pages.
It would help your learning curve a lot if you actually did bother to read manuals and man pages

well...he's installed 1001 servers (or so its been claimed)

the general tenor of the postings seem to indicate that the CV may have been embellished, or the servers in question were windows boxen....as this is stuff that should have been run into before....

Re: Virtual machine

I have read this from the manual...

# hpvmcreate -P vm-name -a network:adapter-type:[hardware-address]:vswitch:vswitch-name
where hardware-address (optional) is the vNIC PCI bus number, device, and MAC address.
If you omit the hardware address, it is generated for you. HP recommends that you allow this information to be automatically generated. In this case, omit the hardware-address value from the command line, but retain the colon character separator. For example:
# hpvmcreate -P vm-name -a network:adapter-type:vswitch:vswitch-name
The adapter-type can be either lan or avio_lan.

lan or avio_lan ---->where can I get that
Torsten.

lan or avio_lan ---->where can I get that

This is totally up to - whatever you want and need.

Start with lan to understand how it works ...

Hope this helps!
