xset: bad font path element

Please anybody experienced this or can help with this?

# xset fp q
xset: bad font path element (#36), possible causes are:
Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
Directory missing fonts.dir
Incorrect font server address or syntax

I once ran into a similar, though not exactly the same, problem with fonts and an HP Engineer told me to eliminate any comment lines (starting with !) from /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias.

You could try that to see if it helps.

That fixed the problem! Superb! Wonder why they have the ! on the lines???!!!

I honestly don't have a clue! I wasn't even sure that it would help you but figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try.
