Cannot detect dual processor
Hi,
We have installed Redhat AS2.1 (2.4.9-e.49smp) in a compaq ML 570 base version server. The OS is unable to detect 2 CPU's. When we had windows 2000 earlier the OS has detected 2 cpu's. checked the dmesg and found a message "SMP motherboard not detected." What should I do to enable dual processor support.

Re: Cannot detect dual processor
Does BIOS see both CPUs?
Did you set "LINUX" as OS in BIOS?

Re: Cannot detect dual processor
I had a similar problem during a fresh install of RH9. I was adding a second processor to a linux box and I compiled an smp kernel. But the system would not recognize the second CPU.
I did a fresh install with both cpu's installed and everything went fine.
Try a fresh install with both CPU's installed.

Re: Cannot detect dual processor
Also, what's the MPS table mode set to in the BIOS?
One long-haired git at your service...
