FTP Issue on RHAS 3.0

Greetings,

My FTP script doesn't seem to want to run when I tried to FTP within my inter-connect IP address 10.0.0.2 - The inter-connect IP address are added in my DNS, and hosts table on both of the linux servers and I was able to ping them successfully. When I tried to FTP from one server to another server, I get an error sayin "451 Failure writing to local file." but than it created an empty file anyway. I checked the server creafully and came up with nothing or not sure where I need to look at. The servers are behind our corp. firewall, therefore, I am not worry too much about security at this time, so I openned up the box to trouble-shoot at this point. Please direct me to where or what I should be seeing. Oh, by the way, I have no trouble using the public IP address for FTP.

Please help!

Thanks and have a great day!!

Re: FTP Issue on RHAS 3.0

Hi

I would try the following(assuming this is between the same network)
Try to ftp from the server back to this server and make sure if this works if this works you need to fix the destination server, check is ftp is disabled
Check if the ftp rpm is installed

Re: FTP Issue on RHAS 3.0

Hi,

Try the following steps..

# telnet 10.0.0.2 21

if it is connected, come out typing the command "quit"...

Do the following steps in ftp server..

#ntsysv

Find vsftpd, select the check box and press ok..

also check the permission of /tmp directory...

Check and let me know...

Hope it will help u to resolve the issue..

Cheers

Re: FTP Issue on RHAS 3.0

It was the directory permission all along. It's fixed.
