Password Aging Policy

We need have migrated two Linux servers and have also setup new users with the temporary passwords. When these users will login, they will be asked to change their passwords on intial login.

At this stage, I have two questions:

1- How can we prevent the users from being forced to change their passwords? Like we dont want users to be forced to change their password.

2- Right now, they can have strong passwords with Capital letters and special characters, we also want to disable that" Can some one please tell me how can we do that?

1- The fist one is controled with the chage -g command.

2- The second one is controlled by the pam_cracklib password module in your pam configuration file, that could be /etc/pam.d/system-auth

For 1) you can edit the /etc/login.defs for setting the password aging by min and max no of days.
