Ultrium and RH 7.3

I have installed an Ultrium 230e on my RH 7.3 box. The hardware browser sees it. The device name is /dev/st but there is no file named /dev/st How do I make this file?

OK, I am stupid! There are like 20 /dev/stXX files listed. Now how do I tell which one is the tape drive?

You've already discovered the /dev/stXX files so why not simply try the lowest number = first instance ??

The "Hardware Browser" says ignore for the driver. is this valid? If not how do I load the driver.

take a look at "dmesg" or /var/log/boot.log or var/log/messages.

try "grep st" on that stuff.

also try looking at /proc/scsi
