How to add a date to a file.

Hi,

System: NT4.0 SP5

I would like to add the current date to a file as a file extension.
It needs to be in this format: "mmddyyyy"

The 'date/t' command somehow needs to be parsed
out so that it only has 8 digits as shown above.

Can this be done in a batch (.bat) file?
