The Tru64 home page http://h30097.www3.hp.com has now been unavailable for nearly a week - maybe longer.
Hopefully posting this here will get someone in HP to do something, other attempts so far have failed !
Cheers,
Rob

Maybe it's a network issue then...

Re: Tru64 Website Down
at least 15-JUN-2007 16:32, when I sent my
first complaint to the "HP U.S. Webmaster".
Other than automated HP Webmaster replies,
I've heard nothing. If it works from
somewhere closer, I'd assume that it's a
network/routing problem. A second complaint
around 19-JUN-2007 18:19 also got nothing but
the usual form acknowledgement. One might
get the impression that no one really cared.
(This one did.)

Strangely, the name resolves differently from here
Name: vzmawebpro04a.ztay.compaq.com
Address: 161.114.87.216
Aliases: h30097.www3.hp.com

Re: Tru64 Website Down
No, no. 209.98.249.184 is _my_ address. My
old bookmark actually starts at
www.unix.digital.com (= 161.114.65.113), but
that gets referred to h30097.www3.hp.com (=
vzmawebpro04a.ztay.compaq.com =
161.114.87.216), which fails.

Re: Tru64 Website Down
thought that all was well. (Probably on the
same LAN segment as the offending server.)
Most likely, it works from within HP, causing
the Webmaster to believe that we're all nuts
(for which there is some evidence). In any
case, I told him that it still looks dead
from out here, so I'd assume that he'll be
trying a more robust test, and, perhaps,
getting it back to visibility again.

Re: Tru64 Website Down
The guy who was in charge of the Tru64 site from IT has left the HP. So there were alarms going out but they fell on deaf ears.
I have just trolled through a bunch of people in the TAY building and found who took over (it would have been nice to have been notified). but then I don't think he was either.
So the root password is not the one he had so he will have to break into the system to figure out what happened.
The system is up and running as you have seen from inside hp but it seems not externally (I have tried an anonymous redirector to be sure). I am going to assume something changed in the network space since the OpenVMS server had an issue 2 weeks ago which was network related.
Hopefully my new contact will get back to me soon with a resolution. I will let you all know what happens.
I don't know why I never got any notification before today from the feedback form filled in by Steven (thanks).
I don't know who BL attempted to contact but however that happened it didn't get to me and any feedback with 'Tru64' should. The first as I said was from Steven and I just checked the web site feedback mailbox and the first feedback was from today.
I will post another reply when the site is back up.
Sorry for the inconvenience and we will strive not to let it happen again.

SolutionYou don't want to know what a pain this escalation has been.
I still don't have all the details but someone found the problem and fixed it and they did it at about 6PM on a friday so thats some dedication (and yes it was someone on the east coast).
It was a network issue.
Anyone who sent in a feedback will get a reply on monday as I'm going home.

I usually _enjoy_ stories about other
people's suffering.

Re: Tru64 Website Down
Unfortunately it seems the bigger a company gets, the slower it becomes to get anything done.

Re: Tru64 Website Down
A network routing issue was the root cause.
