I believe you have posted your request in the wrong location, But , is it USB connected ?? if so, check control panel > system >hardware to see if Windows "sees" the hardware. Sometimes, if it is USB, unplugging the USB connector and reconnecting causes the USB to re-establish communication to the device.. I had something similar happen with my HP scanner at home connected USB to a WIN98 machine..
Good luck, Tommy
I may be slow, but I get there !

Re: how to get new HP to use microtek scanner

this scanner is not connected by usb. It only has a printer port and a scsi port. It was working on my old computer. It does not have a usb port so I can't use that. I do not want to buy a new scanner and my old scsi card is the one with the long pin connection, my new computer has shor pin connection where the card connects to the riser board. Someone where I bought it mentioned that the printer port was configured only to see printers and I would have to change that to see multiple or different items but I can't find where to do that in the bios. Thanks, Patti

You can purchase an adaptor to convert your long pin plug to the short pin plug. However, you should check the pin configurations before making any connections. There are also adaptors that allow you to reconfigure pin settings.
