Can a SCSI tape drive attached to vmware ESX guest work ??

Some partner told us that a SCSI tape driver can't work on a guest OS in vmware ESX 3.X(i). The problem is because guest will not discover the SCSI tape device through ESX.

It's quiet strange that ESX guest can't work as a backup server.

So, I hope to confirm the facts with experts. THX.

HW Config:
- Server: DL380
- SCSI: SC11Xe U320 single channel SCSI HBA
- HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960

OS:
- VMware ESX 3i
- Windows Server 2003 R2 (guest)

I have done a test, and it works in such configuration.

In fact, I have read through VMware Communities and there're someone was failed in a similar configuration. (attach SCSI Tape to guest OS)
