can the DL180G5 support hot plug SATA from embedded RAID
looking to buy a couple DL180G5 with two to four SATA hot plug drives in each server. is the embedded SATA controller offering hot plug drives capability.. ie, Can I just use the embedded controller to connect to these drives and get full hot plug capability or do I have to go to the E200 RAID controller to get the hot plug capability ?

Re: can the DL180G5 support hot plug SATA from embedded RAID
Hi,
The embedded SATA controller just offer RAID capability, however you will need either a Smart Array Controller or an HBA in order to enable the hot plug capability.
These are the notes that I found on the latest Quickspecs:
Hot Plug SAS/SATA
Up to 12 Hot Plug SAS/SATA 3.5" drives (4 drive bays standard)
NOTE: 4 Drive Models are Non-Hot Pluggable. Smart Array Controller must be added for Hot Plug drive capability. 4 Drive Models can be upgraded with the addition of a Smart Array Controller and a SAS/SATA Multi-lane cable (464830-B21). 12 Drive Model available via CTO factory integration ONLY.
NOTE: The addition of a Smart Array Controller requires the addition of a SAS/SATA Multi-lane cable (464830-B21)
Regards
