Changing RAID card from 408i to 816i

If I replace a p408i-a raid card with a p816i-a raid card, will the new card read the drive and raid configuration off the physical disks, or will I have to configure from scratch and then do a full restore from backup ?  On an ML350G10 server

The RAID information is stored on each disk in the arrays(s).  You do not need to re-create the arrays. Make sure the P816 has the latest firmware. Best practices dictate whenever working with disks / arrays make sure you have a good data backup .

Also needing to know if it worked? support told me it wasn't possible but I'm still not conviced with there reply
