DL 380 G4 and NetRaid 1M

Hello everybody!
I'm reinstalling a DL 380 G4 Server with Windows 2003 R2 Standard 32 bit edition. No problems with that. The issue is that I installed an old Compaq NetRaid 1M SCSI Controller (with a VHDCI interface to connect to a LTO2 Library). And The system does not load the device correctly! (please take a look at the attachment). Can anyone Help me with this?? Thanks!!

Re: DL 380 G4 and NetRaid 1M

Apart from this I doubt if this raid controller can handle a tape library. So I would search for a supported "plain" SCSI HBA to connect the box.

Hope this helps!

Re: DL 380 G4 and NetRaid 1M

Andre,

as already mentioned, this is a 'no-go'.
The Netraid 1M was used in the HP Netservers, never in Proliants.
The card was never supported to connect to tape drives either, only disks.

It seems the BIOS is not able to initialize properly in this server as indicated by the device manager error, the only way around this is to disable some other embedded or PCI plug in card BIOS such that there is more room for the 1M BIOS to load/initialize, but then again i would not even go that way.

It would be best to use embedded SCSI controllers on the DL380 and simply remove the 1M or look for another (supported) card for the DL380 like LSI logic or Adaptec SCSI card.

HTH
