DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

Hello! What might cause the following error in DL160 G6:

627-Invalid or Unknown SKU/Chassis ID

Please check front panel, System ID Jumper or Riser

I did the following changes to server:

Added more memory

Change Thermopaste on both processors

Replaced P410 controller with LSI 9260

Added dedicated iLO port

I have another 160 G6 server which i upgrade in a same way, but there was no errors.

Thank you.

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

Since you added the ILO (LO-100), you should check if BIOS and BMC firmware fit together. Does the issue disappear if you remove the LO-100 again?

Hope this helps!

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

Both ilo and bios are the latest firmware aswell as on my other server (which is totally mirror to this one with issue and which works fine).

Just went to check if removing the ilo card would fix the issue - it didnt sadly  :(

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

You could try to swap the riser between your systems and check if the issue follow with this board ...

Hope this helps!

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

I will try it, but it wont be fast :(

Also this error appears even if i remove riser at all...

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

Yes.

The system board itself is the same dor DL120, DL160, DL180 all G6 - IIRC. The riser helps the system to decide what it really is.

Hope this helps!

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

Heh, interesting fact, i didnt know that, thanks!

So lets say if its a riser problem, is there any way to correct it? Basicly the system works fine, raid controller works fine in this riser also.. Only annoying issue is that F1 needs ot be pressed during every boot...

Also what do oyu think about System ID Jumper, cna it be the issue?

Re: DL160G6 error 627 during boot.

Wow.. I've just make some spiritual dances with my riser card pushed it out and in couple of times, cleaned PCI-E copper connectors with pencil rubber.. inserted it back and voila - error has gone!

Thank you for directing me though, i wouldnt push riser option if it wasnt your comment!!
