Hi all,
I got a pretty urgent probelm witch i cant seem to get my head arround.
I just bought a DL 165 G7 with 1x AMD Opteron 6128 2ghz processor and then upgraded it to 2 processors.
I also got another 3 slides of RAM identical, everything is the way it should be.
Then when i start it i get the error message:
BMC Firmware does not support 2 processor system.
What is wired is that the BMC firmware is version 4.22 (feb/07/2011)
4.22 is the latest version on the official website for my server.
Should I downgrade or something ?
Please advise

SolutionHi,
You will get this error message if the BMC firmware does not support the processor. Updating the BMC firmware to latest should fix the issue.
Update the Integrated Lights Out(LO) firmware and BIOS firmware to get BMC updated.
- Remove the 2nd processor connected.
2. Update the Lights-Out 100 Remote Management firmware following the below link.
3. Then Update the System BIOS .
Note: select correct Operating system and choose BIOS - System ROM
4. After that try connecting the 2nd processor and check the status.
Hope the info will help.
Regards,
Renji V

Re: DL165 G7 Processor upgrade probelm. Doesen't allow 2 opteron 6128 2ghz
Thanks! Solution ok!
Now all i need is to buy 3 more fans, the server wont start without proper 2 processor fan configuration :: 7 fans.
Kudos to you

Hi,
Thanks for the update :)
Nice to know the issue is fixed.
Yes, you need to install the fans correctly for proper boot.
