DL180 G5 Memory issues (Dual RANK Single RANK).
Hi,
I have a DL180 G5 running latest firmware version. The server standard came with 2x1GB DIMM's (oddly populated in slots 1&3!). I purchased official HP memory 408853-b21 (I got 2 of these kits which equals 4x2GB's) I have had problems getting all the memory working together (following population guidelines so its not that I'm mixing slots). I have also tested each memory module seperate and all POST fine that way so that rules out a dead DIMM.
Now when I ran into these issues I look on the quickspecs, and it says in the memoy population area DUAL RANK DIMM's only spuuported in slots 1&2, now I can run my 4x2GB's in the first 4 slots, so according to quickspecs it isnt a valid config! (those 408853-b21 DIMM's are dual rank's).
Is this why when I also populate the final 2x1GB's it fails to POST?
Valid configs I can post with is..
4x2GB
2x2GB + 2x1GB (and vice versa).
Anyone know if I will run into issues running the 4x2GB's rank dimms even those quickspecs says its invalid?
Thanksyou very much any replies greatly received.
