DL380 G5 - green drive light stays off
Repurposing an HP DL380 G5. Originally only had 4 drives in it. I just installed 8 new drives. Drive in bay 7 does not show a green light after creating the array. I thought I had a bad drive, so I put a different one in but it has the same problem. The drive is listed as ok in the onboard array config utility, but this really bothers me. I have swapped the two cables to make sure that wasn't a problem. I don't know if it is a problem with the controller (P400) or the drive cage but I don't have spares of either to try swapping them out. No OS installed yet. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? I don't want to set everything up and then have a major failure.

Re: DL380 G5 - green drive light stays off
Your "major failure" could be a bad LED on the disk backplane.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
