DL380 G7 with an P410i and 4 SATA 7E2000 with 1TB

Hello,

after we decide aus for that drives because our Distributor says it should be working....

Today we try to config that drives, we are flashing the firmware to 6.64 and try to config a second raid.

The problem is, we seeing only 250GB instead of the 1TB Disks.

What can be happened?

Hi,

Try to create a new array with 1TB disks and check logical volume size.

What is the disk model?

Kind Regards,
Erdogan.

Hi, I woldn't do the research for you but the fact that you're showing manufacturer part # and type INSTEAD OF the HP part number tells me something is fishy here. What is the HP part number which is typically in the form if xxxxxx-xxx ?

My point is that those generic disks may not be supported by the integrated 410i period.

You can't just stick generic disks onto an HP tray and shove them onto a ProLiant box and expect it to work as if it was an OEM part.

From the screen shot one can see disks in varying capacities and if that's what 410i sees then something is very wrong. Upgrading 410i firmware is a good move but I doubt it will fix the issue.

So in summary; what is the OEM part, if in fact you're using real OEM disks?

Re: DL380 G7 with an P410i and 4 SATA 7E2000 with 1TB

Little bit old post but I'm currently making research about using Seagate Exos in ML350 G6 series.

First thing I see here: "SEAGATE EXOS 7E2000 Enterprise Capacity 2.5 1TB HDD 4KNative" .  Seagate Exos drives are sold as 512n, 512e and 4kn drives. I have not found information that P410i supports 4k (probably there could be performance issues with 512e as well) regardless of FW version.

My answer for anyone who consider drive upgrade on P410i: buy new Exos (or dedicated HP spare) with 512n sector support or add RAID controller to you server that supports 4kn drives.

Tip from Internet (source):

"

512n - 512 on disk, 512 on interface (simple)

512e - 4k on disk, 512 on interface (performance complications possible on old systems)

4kn - 4k on disk, 4k on interface (simple, best interface performance, do not work on old systems)
