I have recently installed DL80 G10 server with dual gold processor which acts as Vmware EXSI host.
Every few minutes the fans kick on and go full speed for few seconds and then quitens down. This it repeats every 4-5 minutes. I notice the fan 4-5-6 are showing little higher speed than of fan 1-2-3.
Changed the setting from тАЬThermal ConfigurationтАЭ to тАЬOptimal CoolingтАЭ From RBSU and even cold booted the server. Updated the firmware to newest version.
If I set the power regulator settings to STATIC LOW POWER MODE then the server quiets down and everything seems good. Except as I undertand it, this decreases the server performace. Any one have any ideas?

Re: DL380 G10
Hi Torsten,
Thank you for your encouraging reply.
Currently below is the firmware applied to the server and it shows it is the latest.
Proliant DL380 Gen10
System ROM: U30 v2.32 (03/09/2020)
System ROM Date: 03/09/2020
Redundant System ROM: U30 v2.14 (09/05/2019)
iLO Firmware Version: 2.14 Feb 11 2020
Can you please guide me to the link where I can download the newest firmware 2.2 and BIOS 2.34 and iLO 2.15 as stated in your reply. I would be greateful.
Thank you once again.

Re: DL380 G10
I used the ISO image to apply the firmware upgrade. I'm running VMware 7.0 hypervisor on the DL380 G10.
I belive you can do the firmware upgrade thru the iLO interface.
I'm open to your valuable suggestion either ISO, thru iLO or thru USB.
Thank you.

SolutionUse the USBKeyUtility inside the ISO to create an USB.
Add to the packages folder:
BIOS 2.34 https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_4267c26073f64f1eb8f2818f61
ILO 2.15 https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_e4d782d489484336bc83083f8d
IE https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_13c53b2245aa41cd85f32655aa
You always need the *.rpm and *.compsig
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL380 G10
Hi Torsten,
Looks like the lnks you provide are for Linux. I'm using VMware vSphere 7.0
Could you provide me links for the same?
Thank you.

Re: DL380 G10
For booting USB and updating from there you need the linux file format.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: DL380 G10
Hi Torsten,
Updating to innovation engine firmware 2.2 did the trick. After updating the IEF, I rebooted the server and even removed the power cables for 45 seconds before switching on the server.
After this the fan noise has compeltely stopped.
Thank you for your recommendation and support received from HPE support.
