Firmware updates on Gen 10 Plus microserver with Ubuntu

At my wits end trying to figure out how to go about this. I have the ILO card installed with ILO 5.

I've tried various approaches under Firmware & OS; I've tried via Intelligent Provisioning, which is trying to access an FTP site that doesn't appear to exist any more; I've tried downloads from HP that failed because they're looking for RPMs (fair enough, my bad); I've tried ISOs from HP that won't boot (perhaps because it's in BIOS mode?) ; I've tried updating from Windows; etc. etc. I just can't seem to figure it out and it's driving me spare.

Could someone give me a fairly basic rundown of what I should be doing please? All of my servers are Dell and I just can't wrap my head around all these different processes, none of which will work for me!

Feel free to call me a doofus in the process, I don't mind!

Hi,

Gen10 Plus servers have ILO 5 and SPP support. As you mentioned you have tried the ISO file, does this mean the SPP iso file ? If yes, which version of SPP you are using ? Is there any error noticed while booting from SPP Iso ?

The ISO, loaded on a flash drive, threw the error ""attempt to read or write outside of disk" and halted. Sorry, I'm pulling that from my google searches, I'm pretty sure there should be a "failed" there somewhere.

If you are flashing from USB drive, you should make the USB drive bootable with SPP image.

Or you can configure the ILO and mount the SPP iso file on the ILO and boot the server with that image to flash. Have you tried this ? If you have difficulties, please log a case with HPE, we can assist you with the errors seen during the firmware update.
