General OS installation (manually)

I have both an ML350 G6 tower and DL320 G5p rackmount servers. I do not know how to install an OS manually on either of them. I have never used an HP server before, only Dell. I would like to install Ubuntu Server 18.04 or Windows Server 2016 but it ignores CDs and USB boot drives. I won't use SmartStart because it only allows older OSes. I've seen 2016 Server installed on the ML350 G6 before, but no explanation as to how.

Re: General OS installation (manually)

Hello

Try the below option to install Operating system manually

1)Reboot the server and press F9 to enter Server BIOS

2)Make sure CDdrive/USB drive is set as first boot order

3)Insert OS media into CD/DVD drive and reboot and it will boot from media

If you want to boot from USB stick then you need to make USB as bootable
