Re: HDD lights status are constantly on

Hi

Compaq/HP most likely would suggest firmware upgrade on the RAID controller and also the BIOS upgrade. When do a firmware upgrade on a RAID controller if the OS is NT/2000/2003 the NT driver needs to be upgraded prior to the firmware update.

Regarding continuous led glowing is there so much activity on the disks or there is something which is running maybe which is making the hard drive make many read.

Re: HDD lights status are constantly on

There's something wrong with your system if the lights are constantly on.

Check the Integrated Management Log. You can view this from the OS if you have an IML viewer installed, alternatively, you can log onto your iLo card and it should show you the log by selecting Integrated Management Log on the left-hand pane.

If you do have the latest firmware and patches applied, log a call with HP.

Re: HDD lights status are constantly on

Could be you backplane in the hot plug cage. The light comes from LED's on the backplane board and are past through optical tubes to the front of the drive. Take a look with the drive out or the other slots to see if the LED's are on without a drive in the slot. re-seat the SCSI cables that go to the cage, unpluggging and re-pluggging them. Reseat all the HD's with the server down.
