Hello everyone,
Dear, I clarify that I do not have much experience on the subject.
The company I work for has an server HP ProLiant DL560 Gen8 with a Smart Array P420i controller.
Recently added 2 new SAS drives and wanted to create a new array.
I know it is possible to do it through the server itself and also through the ESXi console with ssacli but I wanted to try doing it through the iLO service port which I can access remotely.
Remotely, through iLO, I access via https but it doesn't have any option to manipulate the disks. From what I could find out I need to use the Array Configuration Utility or Smart Storage Administrator. I installed the latter but the server does not recognize me, it says that "No driver has been detected".
I tested with a Windows 10 machine that connects via vpn to the iLO service port.
Is it possible to manage the disks in the way I propose?

Re: Query: help to create array through iLO
Hi vict0r,
Please find the steps for creating an array in Gen9 server with iLO 4.
1) Reboot the system
2) Press F10 to enter into "Intelligent Provisioning".
3) Select the option "HP Smart storage Administrator"
4) From the HP Smart Storage Administrator menu, click on the "Controller" under the Available Device menu on the left.
5) Select "Clear Configuration", if required to clear the existing configuration.
6) Select the controller, Click on "Create Array"
7) Select the Logical drives to be part of the array, Click on "Create array"

Re: Query: help to create array through iLO
Hi shiva_jr,
Thanks for your reply. From what I understand there is no way to create a new array without restarting the server, is that right?

SolutionHello Victor,
Yes Restarting the server and booting to Intelligent Provisioning and then Smart Storage administrator is the only way to create array using iLO remote console.
iLO does not have a functionality to create arrays as of now.
Thanks,
TAM
