Solution
Hi,
If I remember correctly, autoloaders are not supported on the external interface of a SmartArray controller.
You need to connect it to a separate SCSI card, such as part number 374654-B21.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: helpme with HP ProLiant ML380 Generation 4 (G4)
Hi,
Yes the 39160 should work perfectly OK.
The problem with the 6i is that it does not support devices with Multiple Lun configurations. It only supports devices with fixed SCSI ID and LUN 0.
I the IBM Autoloader uses a fixed ID for the Drive and multiple luns (one for drive and the other for robotics) then it won't work with the 6i. This is true for a number of SCSI controllers. The 39160 has multiple lun support so it will be OK.
You can check the multiple lun configuration in the Adaptec BIOS at POST using CTRL-A to enter the Adaptec BIOS. Make sure multiple lun support is enabled for the SCSI ID assigned to the autoloader.
I hope this helps.
Brian
