HP DL380P Gen8 SAS Expander
Dear Team,
I'm trying to expand the storage for my Dl380p Gen8 server. I bought an additional 8 bay cage for this job, Because the existing cage is fully loaded. I need to expand the existing array & I have spent lot of time for the same. finally I got a solution with p830 controller with primary and secondary cable kit. Each cage have 2 SAS ports (2+2 = 4). But the p830 controller have only 2 SAS ports.
My question is “How the cage and controller will connect to each other ?”
I am not getting any picture of the cable from HPE or Internet .If you have this picture please share with me.
Please not I have spent hell lot of time by calling HP level 1 & 2 engineers. They don’t have any single picture of this cable , I have contacted several distributors and supplier & they also not aware of this product. Now what I will do?

Re: HP DL380P Gen8 SAS Expander
Hi Nisam77,
Directions
1 - Install the P830 in an open PCIe slot.
2 - Connect the Primary cable kit from Port 1 to Cage 1 and the Secondary cable kit from Port 2 to Cage This will then enable them to RAID stripe across both cages.
3 - Disable the onboard P420i in the BIOS, and set the P830 as the primary boot controller.
Please find the attached pictures to see the cable and connectivity on the backplane.
Hope this helps you.
Regards,
RVylen
