Re: HP ML310e Gen8 memory upgrade

Hi,

The server's QuickSpecs indicate that processor E3-1220v2the supported memory speeds are: 1600/1333/1066MHz

The QuickSpecs further indicate that only 1600/1333 Mhz speed DIMMs are recommended for this server, as seen under section memory and under core options as well, which are as follows:

HP Memory

Unbuffered with ECC DIMMs (UDIMM) for E5-2xxx and E3-1xxx v3 series Processors

HP 2GB (1x2GB) Single Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kit     669320-B21

HP 2GB (1x2GB) Single Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit     647905-B21

HP 4GB (1x4GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kit     669322-B21

HP 4GB (1x4GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit     647907-B21

HP 8GB (1x8GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kit    669324-B21

HP 8GB (1x8GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit     647909-B21

NOTE: All DDR3 memory option kits consist of one DIMM per kit.
For detailed memory configuration rules and guidelines, please use the Online DDR3 Memory Configuration Tool: www.hp.com/go/ddr3memory-configurator.

You may install either of the speeds. Use same type of memory modules, either  Dual Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kits or Dual Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit. The latter is low voltage DIMM and hence is not recommended to mix as the speed dips to the lowest type speed installed.

Hope this helps.

Re: HP ML310e Gen8 memory upgrade

Would the DDR3-1600 Low Voltage memory work with this server?

This site is showing them as compatible but you don't list them above:

Re: HP ML310e Gen8 memory upgrade

Hi,

The server which you referred is HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 server, the first one was HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 server, as far as I understand.

The HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 server supports both normal and low voltage DDR3-1600 memory modules. But, they are not supported on HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 server though. The following are list of supported  memory modules on HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 server:

HP 2GB (1x2GB) Single Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kit                                 669320-B21
HP 2GB (1x2GB) Single Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit       647905-B21
HP 2GB (1x2GB) Single Rank x8 PC3L-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Low Voltage Memory Kit    713975-B21
HP 4GB (1x4GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kit                                    669322-B21
HP 4GB (1x4GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit          647907-B21
HP 4GB (1x4GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3L-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Low Voltage Memory Kit       713977-B21
HP 8GB (1x8GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Memory Kit                                   669324-B21
HP 8GB (1x8GB) Dual Rank x8 PC3L-10600E (DDR3-1333) Unbuffered CAS-9 Low Voltage Memory Kit         647909-B21

You may refer to the HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 server's QuickSpecs also.

Hope this clarifies your query.
