HPE DL20 Gen10 No Controllers Detected

Hello,

I have a new sever hp DL20 Gen10. when I am trying to enter in smart storage administrator (version 3.40.3.0). But, under smart array controllers, I see " NO CONTROLLERS DETECTED".  I have also noticed my hard drives immediately turn orange.

I've seen post where users are instructed to make sure controller is seated on the system board, or plugged into the PCIe slot. I have opened server, and from what I can tell, everything is connected.

Is there a driver I need or do I need to enable something, because I cannot get my drives to be seen.

Here's what i have done so far...

checked:

boot mode: UEFI

controller:  HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 - when I go into controller information, no disks are found

When I check in System Utilities > System Information > Storage Device Information, I see

- NOTHING

When I check in System Configuration, I see

- BIOS/Platform Config (RBSU)

- iLO 5 Configuration Utility

- Embedded Storage:  HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10

- Embedded LOM1 Port1: HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332i Adapter - NIC

- Embedded LOM1 Port2: HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332i Adapter - NIC

When I check in RBSU  -> PCI device Information, I see

- Embedded LOM1: HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332i Adapter - NIC

- Embedded SATA Controller #1: HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10

In RBSU under Storage Options ->  SATA controller Options, is the controller set to SATA AHCI Support or Smart Array SW RAID Support?  If I recall, it is in SATA mode by default.  Also are you using SATA drives? The S100i is SATA only controller The OS will also need a special driver to function as a RAID controller. The driver is only available for Windows

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the controller is set to Smart Array SW RAID Support

Also are you using SATA drives? The S100i is SATA only controller:

I am using the:

HP ENTERPRISE - HARD DRIVE - 300 GB - SAS 12GB/S
TYPE : HARD DRIVE - HOT-SWAP
CAPACITY : 300 GB
FORM FACTOR : 2.5
INTERFACE : SAS 12GB/S
DATA TRANSFER RATE : 1.2 GBPS
SPINDLE SPEED : 10000 RPM

*Is this not a SATA drive. I used it for the Gen9 server I had.*

The OS will also need a special driver to function as a RAID controller. The driver is only available for Windows

I havent put an OS on the server yet, but I will using Windows Server 2012 once I can see my drives, and RAID them.

That is a SAS drive and will not work with this controller, you would need to install an option controller that supports SAS drives such as the E208i or P408i

This guide explains the controller options for Gen10

Sure, it is a SATA controller and requires SATA drives.

Sorry for the long time between responses...I was waiting for my SATA drives to arrive.
