HPE g6 ML370: 2018 BIOS upgrade silently fails

I'm trying to get the new microcode that fixes Meltdown and Spectre.

I've been unable to update from 2013 version of BIOS to 2018.

I've updated from 2013 version of BIOS to 2015.

Still, I've been unable to update from 2015 version of BIOS to 2018.

Any recommendations.

P.S. I've checked the SHA-256 of the 2018 BIOS, it matches what's listed on the HPE Support Site.

Could you please elaborate further on which methods have you used to upgrade BIOS? is it through the OS or have you tried also via the SPP? Have you tried via System ROMPaq with the USB Key? I'm reffering to this: ML370 G6 System ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade 

Also is there an error that you receive once the upgrade process fails? if so please do share. My apologies for the multiple questions, however, in order to be able to assist you better we need to be a little bit more specific.

This was seen multiple times with Windows x64, Server 2008 R2 SP1. No error, dialog reports success and prompts for a reboot. Could it have something to do with the model of Xeon CPUs in the HPE system?
