HPE R/T3000 (J2R04A) UPS is not detected by HP Power Protector via USB on RHEL7..1

I'm unable to detect a HPE R/T3000 (J2R04A) UPS via USB on a DL380 gen9 running RHEL7.1

When I connected the USB to my notebook with Ubuntu it worked.

I tried using the most recent software version.

HPEPP_1.06.069_Linux_x64_Z7550-02303

 

Device shows up in the output of lusb

Bus 004 Device 003: ID 0463:ffff MGE UPS Systems UPS
