ilo4 firmware flash status -- what's the difference between "idle" and "Completed", please?

Hi

In the ILO GUI, if I compare ILO firmware levels of a set of machines (by viewing iLO Federation->Group Firmware Update), I see that the "Flash Status" is "Idle" in some cases and "Completed" in others. The systems are all behaving themselves but it would be nice to understand the reason for the difference.

Any ideas, please?

Re: ilo4 firmware flash status -- what's the difference between "idle" and "Completed

The systems in the "Completed" state have completed a flash, and are ready to begin a new one.

A system reset or iLO reboot may be required for the firmware to take effect.

"IDLE" systems have not initiated a flash process.

Showing the two separately allows additional actions (like system reset) to be taken with the completed set.

When flashing System ROM through iLO, it is possible for the flash to Complete and the server to reset with the new ROM, while the iLO flash state still shows "Completed"

The state can be cleared back to "IDLE" using the "Clear Error" button on the flash page, or by resetting the iLO. But there's no harm in leaving it.
