Inquiry about HP Proliant DL 180 GD G6

Good day friends, I am new to the forum and my query is because I have an HP Proliant DL 180 G6 Server and I need to expand the storage capacity, I currently have 4 Hitachi mb2000ebucf disk of 2T each. I would like to know if I can buy discs from another brand (HP) or does it have to be the same?

The operating system that I use the 2012 Standart server.

Hello Jaccata23,

It is recommended to use hard drive of same models.

However you can mix different models as long as you make sure they are of same specification..

Re: Inquiry about HP Proliant DL 180 GD G6

Dear jaccata23,

we will always recommend to use genuine HPE parts - "I`ll say supported ".

you can check in the user gude: https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/c04284378.pdf?ver=13

the only one supported 2TB HDD is HP 2TB 3G SATA 7.2K rpm LFF (3.5-inch) Midline 1yr Warranty Hard Drive 507632-B21.

The reason is simple - only the supported HDDs will communicate via the HPE FW with the CTRL and you will be able to get the desired performance, on time failure alerts, HPE support and updates.

All other NON supported devices may cause many issues.

ok ok thank you very much smoking901. One more query please ...
When I add the discs as I do to integrate them with the "intelligent Provisioning" mode to those that are already working without losing the data that is being stored continuously in those discs ???

I have created an Array with RAID 0

Re: Inquiry about HP Proliant DL 180 GD G6

Hi,

What is the RAID controller in the servers

you may want ot look at

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03510253

please note : Not all controllers support RAID expansion and BBWC(Battery Backed write cache) is required for RAID expansion to work.
