Re: ML350 G6 UPS issues?
why would anyone skimp on electrical or UPS for an expensive server. The server should have its own dedicated circuit and a quality UPS. It would be like putting cheap gas an a Corvette.

Re: ML350 G6 UPS issues?
If you go to the APC website you can clearly see that the Smart-UPS SC 1500 unit uses a "stepped approximation to a sinewave". This seems to be causing power dropout issues to the HP servers.
The Smart-UPS 1500 on the other hand lists Waveform Type as "Sine wave".
The SC is half the price but it won't keep your server running. Your choice.

Re: ML350 G6 UPS issues?
We purchased 2 ML350 G6 servers which shutdown and would not restart when plugged in to a standard line-interactive UPS. We then bought a Tripplite SU1500XL and connected both servers. This UPS will keep both servers up during self test. We did not test how long the servers would stay up on battery because we switch-over to a backup generator in 30 sec and just need the UPS to bridge the gap between line failure and switchover. This UPS solved our problem.
