Hello,
We have a ML350p Gen8 as a lab-server.
It has an embedded P420i and two drive cages (SFF + LFF). We are running 4 SSD as primary storage and 4 HDD 3.5" as storage.
We use channel A to SDD-SFF-cage and Channel B to the LFF-cage.
We can use 6 disks in the LFF but only 4 of 8 disk in the SFF-cage.
I assume this is not best practice and we tried a P410 controller and a P222 controller but the fans jumped up from 6% 6% 6% 6% to 6% 6% 27% 27%.
Is there any controller that is compatible with the ML350p Gen 8 without fans spinning high??
Also, the LFF-cage has a built in expander så there's an option (more expensive) to add a secondary LFF-cage and 2.5" to 3.5" adapters.
Thank you!

Re: ML350p Gen8 Secondary Storage Controller
Just buy LSI 6g expense card, to expense 2x in SFF8087 to 6x out SFF8087. HP/lenovo mode could find in ebay. Hp have 12g expense card ,but prices ... the old hp expense sas card only support 6g sas and 3g sata speed protocol.
Or you could add one more HP p420/p440 raid card with 8i SAS port. I guess second hand hp p420 p440 card will cheap than hp 12g expense card.
