ML570 G1 :: Booting from new CDROM Drive
I 'upgrade' the DVD/CDROM drive in my ML570 G1 to a DVD/CDRW drive and now the SmartStart 5.5 CD does not boot. However, both Windows and Linux install CDs do boot...... I have the 'latest' system BOIS 12/17/2002 installed. I also looked through this page without sucess:

Has anyone else has this problem? If so, did you over come it?

Re: ML570 G1 :: Booting from new CDROM Drive
Hi Keith,
It might be unrelated but did you install the new DVD/RW with the jumper set to CS (Cable Select) rather than Master or Slave. Compaq used CS as the preferred jumper setting for CD's.

Re: ML570 G1 :: Booting from new CDROM Drive
Hey Brian,
As a matter of fact, I know the drive is setup in Master/Slave setting. Let me switch that to cable select and see what happens.
Thanks for the tip,
Keith

Re: ML570 G1 :: Booting from new CDROM Drive
Well I changed the drive over to cable select and that made no difference. Anyone have anything else to try?
Keith
