Just resurrecting this old server with Centos 6.3 and wanted to see if I can curb the fan noise, also upgrade bios etc, as this certainly isn't at the last released bios.

yes that is last applicable support version.

to control the Fan noise, make sure you have latest system bios and iLO firmware updated.
