Move SmartArray P800 from server A (Proliant ML350 Gen5) to server B (Proliant ML350 Gen6)

Hi,

We have 2 servers in our company: server A which is an HP Proliant ML350 Gen5 with Windows Server 2003 and server B which is an HP Proliant ML350 Gen6 with Windows Server 2008.

We have a Smartarray P800 which manages an external HP Storageworks 60 equipped with 12 drives which is installed on server A and now we want to move it to server B. Would this be possible, considering the OS and hardware differences?

Hi RBarreiros,

You cannot use P800 on ML350 G6 server, please find the ML350 G6 server quick specification  which  is not listed this controller and it is unsupported for G6.
Please find the ML350 G6 server quick specification.

I saw that this firmware upgrade supported win server 2008 that's why I thought it could work.
Is it really impossible? I want to replace the server so what other options do i have to be able to still use my hp storage works 60 with those 12 drives?
