No DVD after OS install.
Hi,
We have a DL380 Gen8p server and installing the Linux OS 6.2 from DVD is fine, after the rebooting the server we can not mount the DVD drive only USB drives appear to work.
Tried to look for a driver but can not see them or find them, wondering if this is a common issue?
Thanks
Tom

Re: No DVD after OS install.
Hi,
What is the error you get when you try to mount the DVD drive?
When you try mount /dev/cdrom /mnt what happens?
See if this link helps you: http://www.digitalindigo.net/support/redhat/mount.html
Thank You!

Re: No DVD after OS install.
The command would look like this:
mount -r -t iso9660 /dev/sdb /cdrom
but use the correct device file!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: No DVD after OS install.
Hi,
The ISO 9660 file system is commonly used by optical media, typically CDs.
The UDF file system is commonly used by optical media, typically DVDs.
See if this works for you:
Edit the /etc/fstab configuration file and append the following line to it:
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 defaults 0 0
Thank You!

Re: No DVD after OS install.
I don't think its a file system type issue.
The device doesn't appear in the /dev there is no /cdrom /dvd or /sr0

Re: No DVD after OS install.
/dev/cdrom is a link to another device. The systems I just checked show it linked to /dev/sr0
See if you can mount /dev/sr0 and list the contents of the disc inserted
