Re: P420i firmware 8.0: could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive!
Hello,
The problem occured since firmware 7.50
The 7.02B does not have any problem.
Use the 864794_001_spp-2016.04.0-SPP2016040.2016_0317.20.iso disc.
After the baseline, clic upper right to "Action", and "Advanced option's".
Choose to allow downgrade (the last choice).
Then, force downgrade of SmartArray Firmware to 7.02(B).
Reboot.
Tadam ! No more warning.

Re: P420i firmware 8.0: could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive!
I think version 7.02 was bad, don't use it

Hope this helps!

Re: P420i firmware 8.0: could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive!
Hello,
Only "Spare Drive" are concerned by the bug. For me, is okay.
7.02 bug :
On an HPE ProLiant server configured with an HP Smart Array controller with spare drives assigned, the spare drives are indicated as "predictive failed" by HP Smart Storage Administrator (HPSSA) after approximately 400 days in service since the date in which the disk drive was configured as a spare drive.
How to downgrade firmware :
:)
Did you talk to hpe support about this issue?
Not yet. The server where that's happened was not more in warranty. But i go open a case for a non concerned server (just for giving an information). The problem is the basic support saying me "please upgrade the firmware to last version", after "if you say you have the solution, that's is to downgrade to 7.02(B), that's mean i close the case", "i can not do anything more"...

Re: P420i firmware 8.0: could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive!
I also have a Customer complaining about this same problem but on an SL4540 with 3TB SAS disks. The P420i is at 8.0 and the original disks were not doing it but a couple of recently replaced drives are doing it.

Re: P420i firmware 8.0: could not be authenticated as a genuine HP drive!
Hi, I have same problem on my HP MP350p server with 8.00 firmware. I found new firmaware version: 8.32(2 Nov 2017) for storage controler. I haven't try it, but maybe would resolve this problem.
Has anybody tried it?
