Physical Local Alert RAID failure: how?
Hello, we have a DL180 Gen9 server with P840 array controller supporting RAID 6, which we're using.
We'd like to have a physical alarm (like a flashing light mounted on the rack) due to a RAID hard drive failure.
Is it possible? and how?
Thank you

Re: Physical Local Alert RAID failure: how?
The P840 does not have any GPIO pins (at least not documented ones) to connect a relay/light to indicate a fault state. All monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting is done via the software, page 134 of the SSA user guide http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03909334
A raspberry pi however has many GPIO pins but you would have to rely on the software layer between the raspberry pi and the array monitoring utilities.

Re: Physical Local Alert RAID failure: how?
I assume there will be at least a red light at the disk itself and a red blinking internal health LED at the chassis.
How about a ringing phone?
Register the ILO to the HPE support center, in case of an issue the server will log a support case automatically.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Physical Local Alert RAID failure: how?
Thank you for your answers.
In this site we don't have an internet connection, for this our customer want a local light.
We can also change server model or controller model, any idea?
