PL800 PIII
I have a Proliant 800 with a single PIII 500 (not Compaq-certified). Now I wanted to update with a second prcessor from a friend (PIII 500, not certified too). Now the computer boots to detect the processors, brakes and reboots. Both processors become very hot. Do I have to use special processors? Do I have to change the VRM too? Which spare number(s)for processors and VRM are recommended?
Thank you for your reply.

Re: PL800 PIII
Hello Frank,
here is the spare part number for the processor and the VRM
Processor with Heat Sink 500/100
114525-001
Processor Power Module (PPM or VRM)(500, 550, 600)
329267-001
Replacing it to these parts should work.
Also to make sure go into the bios and set "cpu corrected" for both processors.
Good luck
