Proliant 5500 Multiprocessor in W2003

I got a dual Xeon PIII 500 Proliant but I don't get Windows 2003 Server to see 2 processors.
Hee keeps displaying 1.
What to do?

Hi TeeJay,

You should be able to update the HAL by using the device manager. Expand the "Computer" icon to see the existing HAL which might be either Standard PC or MPS Uniprocessor HAL since the Proliant 5500 is a Non-ACPI model I believe.

To update it to MPS Multiprocessor HAL click the right mouse button and choose Update Driver.

The choices available are explained at the following Microsoft link.

I hope this helps.

ACPI didn't work @ installation of 2003 so could be MPS.
So I installed that to try it, but it still only shows 1 processor @ "This Computer".
Where can I see/change how many processors there are?

TeeJay,

Do both CPU's show up at POST when the system is booted and report their cache sizes OK?

So you say that if you right click on "My Computer" select "Manage" and then in the Computer Management window you open "Processors" it show only a single line entry? "Intel..Processor" and not two lines?
