proliant 800 ventilator
My proliant 800 has a broken ventilator
ven type TA450DC, this ven has 5 wires,
I have a spare ven, almost exactly the same...
TA450DC but with only 3 wires, the ven works fine only after booting my server stops, says no ven found.
Is there a way to configure this somewhere,
the other ven is also from a proliant 800.
thanks

Re: proliant 800 ventilator
I just replaced the TA450DC fan in my Proliant 800/450Mhz. The replacement fan came out of an older Prosignia 300. The connector was slightly different for the Proliant 800. The 800 had a five pin female connector. One of the pins had a yellow plug in it to prevent reversing the polarity of the connector. The plug was in pin 2 of the 5 pin connector. The rest of the pins were as follows:
Pin 1 - Yellow Wire
Pin 2 - Plug
Pin 3 - Red Wire
Pin 4 - Black Wire
Pin 5 - Black Wire
Pin 4 and 5 is connected to the same fan wire. The Prosignia fan was only using pins 1, 3 and 5. When I tried this without the jumper wire between 4 & 5, I still got the
boot error. Then I added the 4-5 pin jumber and all worked fine.
Good Luck.
