Proliant DL380 G9 - Physical Disk Identification from ILO Info Guidance Please

Hey All,

I have been trying to remotely support a user who has advised that Port 1L, Box 1, Bay 1 has a faulty HDD.

This DL380 G9 has 3 front cages with 8x 1.2TB in each slot for a total of 24 HDD's. Looking at the server, there is no obvious failed or degraded HDD.

The only thing i noticed was that the middle cage, Disk 2 has its do not remove light on apart from that, I can't tell which disk is actually faulty.

There is no ACU on the server, or I could have asked them to turn on the UID of the reported HDD.

Can anyone assist in helping me identifiy which disk could be faulty please?

I cant find any obvious correlation of this error to a physical location. I dont want to pop the wrong disk,

Any guidance would be appreciated

Hello,

As it is mentioned that there are twenty four hard drives installed in the server, please review section "Storage" on page 48 of the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 Server's QuickSpecs, which shows the hard drive layout for a 24 SFF + rear 2 SFF hot-plug drive model server.  Of Port 1I, Box 1, Bay 1, Port 1I indicates that it is internal to the server and at port 1.

If the hard drives installed in the server is this way, then the Port 1I, Box 1, Bay 1 would refer to the hard drive numbered 1 in the illustration.
