Proliant ML110 - Additional drive in SATA 5 or 6

Hi, I currently have 2 groups of drives, each a RAID 1 setup, utilizing the B110i RAID controller. This controller has a 4 drive RAID maximum.

Ports 5 and 6 (3gbit ODD SATA ports) are not used, but I would like to utilise one of them for an additional (SSD) drive in non-RAID.

I am unable to achieve this. Each time I select SATA 5 or 6 to be a AUTO or ATAPI type, the setting is forgotten by the BIOS, probably because I have set the "SATA MODE SELECTION" to "RAID".

So, what am I doing wrong? Surely I am able to utilize the two remaining SATA ports, albeit not using the RAID controller? Thank you in advance!

The Array Configuration Utility can identify the drive and sees "Unassigned Drives (1)".

What if I set the "SATA MODE SELECTION" to "AHCI"? Will the two RAID arrays continue to function or is the RAID controller bypassed completely then?

OK, so I bought a PCI-e card for 30 euro's. Spending money is less painful than working with HP.
